Johan Westman – longest resident Swede in Bhutan?

Johan is as far as known the only Swede currently living in Bhutan, and probably also the one who has lived the longest in the country (since December 2011). For the past five years, he worked at Samtse College of Education with music teaching and founded the music center Lu-Rig, and also taught children in Samtse and helped to establish cooperation between Samtse College and Malmö University. Prior to that, he worked as a violin teacher at Jigme Drukpa’s music school Aa-Yang in Thimphu, and sometimes played with the Aa-Yang ensemble (which visited Sweden in 2013). He left Samtse in January this year to start a position at the College of Language and Culture Studies, Taktse in Trongsa.
